When you create an account, we collect your email address and any name you provide. When you use the summarizer, we store the YouTube URL, video title, and the AI-generated summary. We also track how many free summaries you have used today.
Your data is used solely to provide the service — authenticating you, generating summaries, and managing your subscription. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

We use cookies only for authentication (keeping you signed in). We use browser localStorage to remember your sidebar preference and, for anonymous users, recent summaries. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
Your summaries and account data are retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual summaries at any time from your history page. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and row-level security on our database. No system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password.
This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of this page.
The YouSumi browser extension adds a summary panel to YouTube watch pages. It is a second client for the same account — it does not create a separate profile or a separate set of data.
What it sends us. Only when you click the summarize button: the video URL, the video's public captions, the video title, and your chosen summary language. Nothing is sent while you simply browse or watch.
What it stores on your device. Your default summary language and whether the panel is collapsed, so you do not have to set them again. These stay on this device and are not synced to your Google account. While a summary is being generated it also holds that job's identifier and the captions it fetched, so the panel can recover if your browser suspends the extension — this is session memory that clears when you close your browser. Summaries you generate are held in memory for the current browsing session only. The extension writes no summaries or captions to disk.
What it does not do. It does not read your browsing history. It runs only on youtube.com and only builds its panel on video watch pages. It never asks for or receives your password, and it does not store authentication tokens. It does not request permission to read your cookies, and it does not use tracking or advertising code.
How signing in works. The extension has no login form. Signing in opens yousumi.com in a new tab, and the extension then recognises the same session you already have with this site. Signing out on the website signs you out in the extension as well.
